Witnessing a home come to fruition and surpass the client’s vision is our greatest achievement

About us

Hampton Architecture is a small and dedicated team of talented architects and interior designers who share a passion for design and a commitment to creating beautiful and tailored projects for our clients.

Based in our studio on Sydney's north shore, and with an international office in Barcelona Spain, Hampton Architecture is led and directed by Registered Architect Adam Hampton. A practising architect for over two decades, Adam has worked with award winning local and international practices and has a broad range of experience across master planning, residential, retail, commercial, hospitality and public projects.

Hampton Architecture has developed an acute focus on high-end residential architecture and interior design and has earned a reputation for delivering beautiful and practical homes across Sydney and beyond.

Developing a personable and collaborative relationship with our clients is the key to the success of Hampton Architecture. We pride ourselves on our commitment to our clients and working with them to achieve their vision for their home.

Our design approach

A Hampton Architecture design goes beyond the building structure itself but holistically embraces the practical and aesthetic interaction between architecture, interior design and the environment. It is the careful balance of each of these elements that truly creates a home that is both beautiful and an inspiring place to live.

Each project is unique and each design must take inspiration from its surroundings. Hampton Architecture understands that each project needs to respond to its environment and that the design needs to enhance the location. This will ensure that our projects make a positive contribution to the built environment that surrounds all of us. We design homes that are both relevant today but also will have longevity and timelessness.

Working collaboratively with our clients, Hampton Architecture delivers homes that achieve their vision and suit their needs. However, it is also our responsibility to deliver designs that are practical and grounded but equally aesthetically distinctive and stimulating. With our expertise and knowledge of the architecture and interior design industries and trends, we are able to introduce contemporary and emerging styles to our clients that elevate a project beyond any of their original expectations. Witnessing a home come to fruition and surpass the client's vision is our greatest achievement.

Hampton Architecture is committed to pursuing a project from its beginning to its end and seeing the realisation of our designs. This is achieved by consistent and meaningful engagement with our clients and with the consultants and contracters with whom we work. We thank our clients for giving us their trust and support.

Our services

Pre-purchase

While you are looking for your new home, we can provide you with architectural ideas as well as advice on the regulatory requirements of a property before you purchase a site. With experience across Sydney and beyond, we understand how local councils work, what they require and what type of development is likely to be approved. As well as meeting with you and visiting the site, we can provide written advice and/or sketches to articulate a potential design before you commit to purchasing a home. We can also provide advice relating to potential costs and timing as well as introduce you to other consultants you may wish to confer with. We can investigate the opportunities of a property to give you confidence in purchasing your home.

Our architectural services for a project, from its beginnings to its conclusion, are divided into four stages -

Stage 1:  Concept Design

We meet with our clients to understand the vision for the project and identify the underlying ideas, needs and inspiration. We also visit and measure the site. The client’s project brief is then developed in hand sketches and digital plans, elevations and sections to describe our design intent. A digital 3D model and material and finishes board is also prepared to articulate the design. In collaboration with our clients, we then expand and finalise these plans.

Stage 2:  Design Development

After analysis of the regulations and requirements of the approving authority, we prepare the necessary architectural documentation required for the submission of a Development Application or relevant approval application. We recommend and liaise with additional consultants that are required to contribute to approval applications (such as a Town Planner, Surveyor, Engineer, Heritage Consultant, Landscape Designer etc).

We are available to lodge and manage the development application and oversee its progress with the approval authority on our client’s behalf.

Stage 3:  Construction Documentation

We prepare a well-rounded set of construction documentation that builders and consultants follow to execute the approved design. This includes architectural plans, elevations, sections, specifications, schedules and construction details. We also assist our clients in the selection of materials, finishes, fittings and fixtures and are available to recommend, design, select and coordinate the purchase of furniture.

We coordinate and manage the Construction Certificate application process and can recommend and liaise with additional consultants that are required to contribute to the construction process. We can assist our clients in recommending builders for the project, whom we have established good working relationships.

Stage 4:  Site Advice & Quality Control

To ensure the quality and finish of the project and adherence to the approved plans is maintained, we work closely with our clients, builders and consultants. This involves regular communication, involvement and visits to the site to address issues and solve problems as they arise through the provision of quick, consistent and efficient assistance.

We assist our clients and the builder with obtaining the final Occupation Certificate application to ensure that the handover process is seamless and our clients can move into their newly completed home.

Interior Design

This stage, known as the furnishings and installation stage, emphasises a hands-on approach and works closely with our architectural design process. We collaborate with you to design and choose custom pieces, furnishings, artwork, accessories, linens and décor that complement the interior architecture and design of your home, while working within your brief and budget. We facilitate the selection process by providing mood boards, samples and arranging showroom visits to ensure that you share the same enthusiasm for these items as we do.

Throughout the procurement process, we communicate with suppliers to place orders and coordinate deliveries on behalf of the client. Our interior designers personally oversee deliveries, conducting quality checks and ensuring furniture placement and styling on-site. By attending to the finer details, we strive to create a seamless end-to-end experience for our clients.

Heritage Consultancy

Hampton Architecture has an experienced heritage consultant on staff to provide advice on how to make sympathetic changes to heritage-listed items or places of heritage significance. We can assess heritage significance and provide advice on regulatory requirements as well as prepare Heritage Impact Statements to accompany development applications.
